What is Yoga and why it’s beneficial for everybody?

Traditionally Yoga was a very different practice. As it is today the best way to describe it is moving the body through a series of poses where the fundamental difference is that each movement is connected to your breath. It does go much deeper, fascinatingly so …but if you’re someone new to yoga and are wondering what it is that’s the simplest description I can give you.

I think many people think of it as a gentle exercise, and it absolutely can be but it doesn’t have to be and within a class can be scaled for every person’s ability. My classes are suitable for those that have never exercised before and are beginners to those that have been practicing for a while and can be made to be very challenging without having to be a contortionist or be able to stand on your head!
I think this famous Yogi quote really sums it up…

‘The Yoga pose is not the goal. Standing on your hands is not the goal. The goal is serenity. Balance. Truly finding peace in your own skin.’
Although there are many extremely impressive postures which are absolutely beautiful, its not where the focus in my Yoga classes are and not what Yoga is fundamentally about.

In my classes we work on creating space in the body and the mind. We’ll work on improving your posture, become stronger and fitter and improve your flexibility.

You’ll leave feeling calm and peaceful and carrying a sense of tranquility in to the rest of your week.

What are the benefits of Yoga?
There are many benefits to having a regular practice I have listed a few below. Even if it’s just 15 minutes each day doing a simple flow or sun salutations.

Class schedule

Our evening classes are held at the beautiful Woodland enterprise center at Flimwell. A stunning building with huge domed ceiling and heated floor making it perfect for a slow relaxing class.

Daytime sessions held on Thursdays are currently held at my private studio.

Classes run in 6 week terms and in small groups at a cost of £60 paid at the time of booking by direct bank transfer

Tuesday evenings at 7pm – Candlelit Yin style Yoga. A magical experience including sound & Reiki healing

Wednesday evenings at 7.50pm – Candlelit Yin style Yoga. A magical experience including sound & Reiki healing

Thursday mornings at 10.30am – A more energetic flowing Yoga class set to uplifting music

HOW CAN I BOOK?

Booking your class is really simple. Just complete the short Client Registration Form so we have your personal details and information essential to deliver you a safe and effective class and gives you a place to write which term you’d like to join.

Don’t worry everything is confidential and stored securely online. I will then send you an email confirmation, the course dates address and payment details.

Bookings need to be for paid in full at the time of booking by direct bank transfer with your name and YOGA as a reference.
